Welcome to the Merton Safeguarding Children’s Partnership’s pages for practitioners and professionals who work with children and their families.

Safeguarding is everyone’s business.  The vision of the Merton Safeguarding Children Partnership that everyone does everything they can to ensure that each child is safe, supported and successful.

Working Together 2018 states that:

Nothing is more important that children’s welfare…  Everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined for the purposes of this guidance as:

  • preventing impairment of children’s health or development
  • ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes (Working Together 2018, pp. 6-7)
