Joint Targeted Area Inspection of Serious Youth Violence in Merton

Date: Wednesday, 22nd Nov 2023 | Category: General

Merton has received notification of a Joint Targeted Area Inspection (JTAI) on Serious Youth Violence for Merton. This includes inspectors from Ofsted, Care Quality Commission (CQC), His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) and His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation (HMIP).

This means that inspectors will be looking at how agencies such as the Merton Safeguarding Children Partnership, the police, health, the youth offending team, and the community safety partnership work together to keep children safe who are affected by serious youth violence in our borough. These also include children facing criminal exploitation risks.

You can see more details in the inspection framework here.

The inspection will take place over the next 3 weeks, with inspectors on-site at the Civic Centre from Monday 4 to Friday 8 December. We are currently working to gather the evidence that inspectors are requesting.  Inspectors will also be meeting with multi-agency staff to hear about our practice in Merton.
