Funding opportunities for registered charities

Date: Friday, 03rd Apr 2020 | Category: General

We would like to draw your attention to the London Community Response Fund, the first wave of funding, a small grants fund, will focus on urgent needs, though later funding will support organisations to deliver services in new ways to support communities, and to ensure that their longer-term needs are considered by the funding community. Please can you share this with your networks and utilise the domestic abuse and violence filter for all sexual violence support and all VAWG types.

This first wave of funding is for urgent needs so that you can cover costs that you are incurring right now to support communities affected by the covid-19 outbreak and the move to social distancing, with a focus on food and essentials. Groups have told us that they are incurring additional expenditure to meet short-term needs around food and essential items such as mobile phones and data, and cleaning products in these initial weeks. This funding is intended to enable you to cover these essential and urgent costs so that you can carry on providing support to Londoners.

You can apply now for a grant up to £5,000 for these immediate and urgent needs,

Are you eligible?

You need to be applying as an organisation (not as an individual). Please note, that in order to enable us to deploy Wave 1 Small Grants as quickly as possible, you need to be one of the following organisation types:

Registered charity
Registered Community Interest Company (CIC)
Registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)
Charitable company (limited by guarantee)

If you are a mutual aid group (i.e. you have come together to respond to the crisis but have not applied for funding before and are not able to hold a grant), you will need to find an organisation in the list above to apply on your behalf.

The activities which you are applying for funding for need to be legally charitable and benefit Londoners – i.e. they must take place in and/or benefit people living in London or one or more of London’s 33 local authority areas (see map at Directory.londoncouncils.gov.uk/).
